Daily Sports Recap

NBA

The Hawks hold off the Grizzlies 4th quarter comeback attempt to win 112-109. Al Hortford led the Hawks with 20. Rudy Gay had a game high 23 for the Grizzlies and Zach Randolph had 19 points and 19 boards.

Westbrook led the Durantless Thunder past the Nets 123-120 in triple overtime. Westbrook had 38 points, 15 rebounds and 9 assists and Jeff Green added 37 more for the Thunder. Brook Lopez and Jordan Farmer both had 28 for the Nets.

The Raptors used huge first half to get past the Wizards 127-108. The Raptors had 7 players in double digits being led by DeMar DeRozan who had 20. Javale McGee had a game high 21 for the Wizards.

Paul Pierce's 28 points helps lead the Celtics past the Trailblazer 99-95. Rondo added 10 points and 10 assists for the Celtics in the win. Wesley Matthews led the Trailblazers with 23.

The Heat fly past the Pistons 97-72. LeBron had 18, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade both had 16. Greg Monroe had a team high 15 in the loss. Heat head to Cleveland for Lebron's long awaited return tomorrow.

The Hornet's big 4th quarter propels them past the Bobcats 89-73. David West had 22 and Emeka Okafor had 14 and 13 rebounds. Gerald Wallace led the Bobcats with 18.

Magic blowout the Bull's 107-78. Jameer Nelson had 24 and Vince Carter had 22 for the Magic. Derrick rose was held to 15 but still had a team high.

Mav's win their 6th straight as they beat the Timberwolves 100-86. Shawn Marion led the Mav's with 16. Michael Beasley had 16 and Kevin love had 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Lakers lose their 4th straight, this time to the Rockets 99-109. Kevin Martin led the Rockets with 22 while Kobe had 27 and Lamar Odom added 25 more more the Lakers.

Denver uses a strong 2nd half to beat the Bucks 105-94. Nene led the Nuggets with 24 and J.R. Smith had 20 more for the Nuggets. John Salmons had a team high 21 for the Bucks.

Jazz hold on after a huge 1st quarter to beat the Pacers 110-88. Deron Williams had 24 points and 16 assists in the game while Al Jefferson added 17 and 10 rebounds for the Jazz. Darren Collison had a team high 16 for the Pacers.

Blake Griffin and the Clippers upset the Spurs 90-85. Griffin had 31 and 13 rebounds and Eric Gordon added 21 more for the Clippers in their win. George Hill had a team high 21 for the Spurs.

College Basketball


Freshmen Kyrie Irving had a game high 31 to help propel #1 Duke past #6 Michigan St 84-79. Nolan Smith added 17 and Mason Plumlee had 10 points and 10 boards for Duke. Korie Lucious had a team high 20 for the Spartans.

#3 Pittsburgh beats Duquesne 80-66 behind Ashton Gibbs' 22 points. Gary McGee added 12 and 13 rebounds and Nasir Robinson had 14 and 12 boards. Bill Clark and Damien Saunders each had 20 for the Dukes.

#15 Memphis survives an upset attempt by Arkansas St to win 78-71 in OT. Will Barton had a game high 20 points for the Tigers. Daniel Bryant led the Red Wolves with 16.

Central Florida upsets #16 Florida 57-54. Marcus Jordan led the Knights with 18 while Vernon Macklin's 20 points weren't enough for the Gators.

#18 Purdue survives Virginia Tech 58-55 in Overtime. JaJuan Johnson had 29 points and E'Twaun Moore added 14 more. Jeff Allen had a team high 14 for the Hokies.

#19 San Diego St's quick start leads them past St Mary's 69-55. Chase Tapley had 14 for the Aztecs while Rob Jones had a game high 17 for the Gaels.

#20 Texas takes down Lamar 76-55. Jordan Hamilton and Cory Joseph both had 16 for the Longhorns. Lamar was led by guard Kendrick Harris who had 13.

#23 UNLV flys past Illinois St 82-51. Anthony Marshall led the Rebels with 15 while Austin Hill had a team high 15 for the Redbirds.

#25 BYU advances to 7-0 after they beat Creighton 77-65. Brandon Davies had a game high 24 and Jimmer Fredette added 13 more for the Cougars. Doug McDermott led the Bluejays with 20.

Boston College gets past Indiana thanks to 27 points from Reggie Jackson. Biko Paris added 19 more for the Eagles in the win. Christian Watford had 23 for the Hoosiers.

NHL


Penner's overtime goal helps the the Oilers beat the Canadiens 4-3.

Thomas's 41 saves helps the Bruins blank the Flyers to get the 3-0 win.

Predators get past the Blue Jackets 4-3 in a shootout despite Antoine's Vermette's two goals.

Backstrom has two goals to lead the Capitals past the blues 4-1.

Coyotes knock off the Wild 4-2. Scottie Upshall netted two goals for the Coyotes.

Raymond's hat trick propels the Canucks to a blowout win over the Flames, 7-2.



Duck's score two in the 3rd to get past the Panthers 5-3. Greg Parros had two goals for the Ducks and Steve Bernier had two for the Panthers.
