Monday Sports Recap

NFL

Chargers dominate the Broncos 35-14 as the Chargers advance to .500 and stay in contention of the AFC West title. Phillip Rivers threw for only 233 yards but 4 touchdowns. Running Back Mike Tolbert had 111 yards on the ground and a score and receiver Patrick Crayton had 105 yards and a touchdown to help the Chargers secure the win. Chargers will face Payton Manning and the Colts on Sunday Night football next week while the Broncos will face the Rams.

NBA

Garnett had 17 points and 11 boards and Nate Robinson had 16 points 10 dimes to help lead the Celtics to a 99-76 win over the Hawks. Celtics go to 10-4 on the season.

Wade and the Heat have a terrible night as they fall to the 6-6 Pacers at home. Danny Granger had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Pacers while Lebron had 25 points and Chris Bosh added 21 while wade was an awful 1-13 with 3 points. The Heat fall to a measly 8-6 on the season.

Durant scores 28 points in his return to help the Thunder win their 5th straight and beat the Timberwolves 117-107. Russell Westbrook shined again as he added 20 points and 14 assists for the Thunder and Kevin Love had 24 points and 17 rebounds for the Timberwolves.

Spurs win their 11 straight as they beat the Magic 106-97. Manu Ginobli led the Spurs with 25 points while Dwight Howard had a huge game with a game high 26 points and 18 rebounds.

Suns score 123 against the Rockets 116 as Nash returns to the lineup. Kevin Martin led the Rockets with 19 points and Jason Richardson had 26 for the Suns.

Jazz get past the Kings 94-83. C.J Miles had a game high 20 points for the Jazz while rookie DeMarcus Cousins had 18 points and 9 rebounds for the Kings.

Carmelo Anthony had 39 for the Nuggets as they beat the Warriors 106-86. Monta Ellis had a modest 20 points for the Warriors.


Blake Griffin and Eric Gordan have a huge game for the Cilppers as they beat the Hornets. Griffin had 25 points and 13 rebounds and Eric Gordon had 27 points help the Clippers get their 2nd win of the season. David West had 30 points and 10 rebounds for the Hornets.  

NCAA Basketball

Sophomore Mason Plumlee has 25 points and 12 rebounds to help the #1 Duke Blue Devils beat Marquette. Duke used a big run in the 2nd half to secure the win 82-77 and move to 4-0 on the season.

#2 Michigan St avoids embarrassment as they come from behind in the 2nd half to beat Chaminade 82-74 in Maui. Kalin Lucas had 28 points for the Spartans while Steven Bennett had 20 points and 10 assists for Chaminade in a losing effort.  

#3 Kansas St shot 51% from the field while holding #12 Gonzaga to 33% from the field on the night as the Wildcats get the win seventeen point victory over the Bulldogs, 81-64. Jacob Pullen had 18 points for the Wildcats while Center Robert Sacre had 17 points for the Bulldogs.

Freshmen Forward Terrence Jones helps lead #9 Kentucky past Oklahoma 76-64 in Maui. Jones had 29 points and 13 rebounds. Cade Davis had 19 for the Sooners.

LaceDarius Dunn’s 24 points and Quincy Acy’s 18 points and 14 boards lead #13 Baylor past Lipscomb.

#22 San Diego St beat Miami (OH) by 21, 77-56, as San Diego St moves on to 5-0. Kawhi Leonard had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Aztecs.

Uconn’s Kemba Walker scored 29 of his 31 points in the 2nd half to help the Huskies avoid an upset bid to Wichita St in Maui. Uconn went on to win 83-79.

NHL

Capitals lose 0-5 for the second time in three games. This time the loss was to the Devils as Jason Arnott had two goals.

Jerome Igina scored goal number 450 but it was in a losing effort as the Flames lose to the Rangers 2-1.

Flyers were down 2-0 but scored three straight to beat the Canadiens 3-2.

Nikolai Kulemin nets two goals for the Maple Leafs as they beat the Stars 4-1.

Mason’s 27 saves for the Blue Jackets produce a shutout and a Blue Jackets win 2-0. Rick Nash had his 13th goal of the year in the win.

Senators beat the Kings 3-2 with help from Laclaire’s 28 saves.

Steven Stamkos nets his league leading 20th goal of the season as Tampa Bay beat Boston 3-1.

Sidney Crosby’s 15th goal of the season helped the Penguins beat the Panthers 3-2.
