Daily Sports Recap

NBA


The Big Three lead the Heat to a 89-77 win over the Hawks. The Heat have now won four in a row and are third in the East. Chris Bosh led with 27 and 10 boards, Wade had 26 and 10 rebounds and LeBron added 22. Al Hortford had a team high 22 for the Hawks.

The 76ers cruise past the Bobcats 109-91. Jodie Meeks had a career high 26 while Elton Brand added 15 more and 10 rebounds. Boris Diaw led the Bobcats with 19.

The Bulls survive the Rockets 119-116. Derrick Rose hit a three with a second left to tie it up and send it into overtime, on top of that he added 30 points and 11 assists. Carlos Boozer added 25 and Joakim Noah had 15 and 12 rebounds. Luis Scola had a team high 27 for the Rockets.

The Timberwolves blowout the Cavaliers 129-95. Kevin Love had another big game with 28 points and 19 rebounds while Wesley Johnson added 20 more for the Wolves. Ramon Sessions had 19 to lead the Cav's.

The Buck's knocked off a short handed Magic team 96-85. Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson and J.J. Reddick were all out again with the flu. Andrew Bogut had 31 and 18 rebounds while Brandon Jennings added 27 more for the Bucks. Vince Carter led the Magic with 20.

The Mav's used three solid quarters to come back from a 11 point first quarter deficit to beat the Kings 105-103. Dirk had 25 and Jason Terry added 23 for the Mavericks. Tyreke Evans had 25 while DeMarcus Cousins added 17 and 11 rebounds for the Kings.

College Basketball


#1 Duke tops Butler 82-70 in a rematch of the 2010 National Championship game. Duke pulled away in the 2nd half after it was tied up at 33 at halftime. Nolan Smith had a game high 24 and Kyrie Irving added 21 more for the Blue Devils. Shawn Vanzant had a team high 14 for the Bulldogs. Duke moves to 8-0 while Butler falls to 4-3.

#3 Pittsburgh runs by Rider get the 87-68 win. Brad Wanamaker had 16 and 11 rebounds and Ashton Gibbs added another 16 for the Panthers. Mike Ringgold had a game high 24 for Rider.

#6 Michigan St dominated Bowling Green 74-39. Durrell Summers led the Spartans with 14 while Scott Thomas led the Falcons with 11.

Scoop Jardine's big second half helped #7 Syracuse get past NC State 65-59. Jardine had 23 and Rick Jackson added 16 more in the win. Scott Wood had 18 for the Wolfpack.

UNC upset #11 Kentucky in Chapel Hill behind 27 points from Junior Tyler Zeller. Zeller also had 11 rebounds for the Tarheels. John Henson added 13 more and 12 boards in the win. Doron Lamb had a team high 24 to lead the Wildcats.

#13 Minnesota bounced back to beat Cornell 71-66. Blake Hoffarber and Ralph Sampson both had 13 to lead the Gophers. Errick Peck and Chris Wroblewski each had 16 for the Big Red.

#14 Georgetown shuts down Utah State 68-51 thanks to some help from Chris Wright. Wright had a game high 21 and four steal in the win. The Aggies didn't have a player in double digits in the loss.

#15 Memphis had 11 steals and 12 blocks as they beat Western Kentucky 77-51. Joe Jackson had 15 and D.J. Stephens had 13 and 11 rebounds in the win. Sergio Kerusch had a game high 16 for the Hilltoppers.

#18 Purdue ran by Alabama 66-47. E'Twaun Moore had 23 and JaJuan Johnson had 17 in the win. Tony Mitchell had 14 for the Crimson Tide.

#19 San Diego St used a huge second half to get past Witchita St 83-69. Billy White had a game high 24 for the Aztecs while David Kyles had 18 for the Shockers in the loss.

#21 Illinois drained 12 three's to get by #24 Gonzaga 73-61. All five starters for the Illini scored in double figures while Robert Sacre led the Bulldogs with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

#22 Washington topped the century mark as they beat Texas Tech 108-79.  Justin Holliday had a game high 20 points for the Huskies while Brad Reese led the Raiders with 19.

#23 UNLV advanced to 8-0 as they beat Nevada 82-70. Oscar Bellfield went 5-6 from behind the arc and scored a game high 24 in the win. Dario Hunt had 14 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.

#25 BYU forced Hawaii to only 30% shooting as they win 78-57. Jimmer Fredette had a game high 16 while Harim Thompson led the Warriors with 15.

NHL

The Flyers scored three goals in the third as they beat the Devils 5-3 and get their 16th win of the season.

The Canadiens scored one in each period to get past the Sharks 3-1.

Ryan Miller's 32 saves help the Bruins beat the Senators 1-0 in a shootout.

The Maples Leaf's comeback and get the 3-2 win in a shootout over the Bruins despite 38 saves from Thomas.

Ondrej Pavelec's 45 saves help the Thrashers beat the Capitals 3-1 despite Alexander Ovechkin's goal.

Crosby and the Penguins score seven on the Blue Jackets in the 7-2 victory. Crosby had two goals and Martin added two more goals in the win.

The Lightning out shoot the Avalanche 6-5. There were 11 different scorers in the game.

The Predators score three in the first and hold on to the lead to beat the Hurricanes 5-2.

The Stars get their 6th straight win as they beat the Wild 4-3 off of a Robidas overtime power play goal.

The Panthers out duel the Coyotes to win 2-1 in shootout fashion.

Taylor Hall's overtime goal helped the Oilers beat the Blues 2-1.

Kopitar's overtime goal helps the Kings upset the Redwings 3-2.

Soccer 

Samir Nasir's two goals help Arsenal get past Fulham 2-1.

Brimingham scores in the 80th minute to tie up Tottenham 1-1.

Carlos Tevez's goal jolts Manchester City past Bolton 1-0.

Everton nets a goal in the 85th minute to draw Chelsea 1-1.

Lionel Messi nets two goals to help Barcelona roll past Osasuna 3-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo nets two second half goals to help Real Madrid get past a ten man Valencia team.

Schalke 04 shutout Bayern Mucich to get the 2-0 victory.

AC Milan blows by Brescia 3-0 thanks to goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho, and Kevin-Price Boateng.

Golf

Tiger holds a four shot lead after three rounds in the Chevron World Challenge.
