Daily Sports Update

College Football

#1 Oregon was trailing 19-14 at the half but came back strong scoring 34 second half points to easily beat #21 Arizona 48-29. Oregon clinches the Pac 10 title after the win and assures them a BCS bowl even if they lose next week. Oregon had 537 total yards in the game and just shy of 400 yards rushing. Oregon continues their undefeated record and are the front runners for the an appearance in the National Championship game.

Cam Newton and #2 Auburn found themselves trailing #11 Alabama 24-0 with 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter but then a Cam Newton Touchdown pass put it to 24-7 at the half. After that it was all Tigers as they staged a major comeback to beat Alabama on the road 28-27. Auburn keeps up their unblemished record as they go into the SEC title game to take on South Carolina. Alabama falls to 9-3 on the season.

#19 Nevada comes back from being down 24-7 in the third quarter to knock of #4 Boise St 34-31 in overtime. Boise St kicker missed a 26 yard game winner at the end of regulation and then another in Overtime . This ruins Boise St's hopes of a reaching the BCS Nation Championship game. Nevada ended Boise St's 23 game win streak and wins the WAC. Nevada advances to 11-1 on the season while Boise drops to 10-1.  Nevada's Colin Kaepernick had 259 passing yards and 45 on the ground.

#15 Nebraska blew past Colorado 45-17 as they  won the Big 12 North and advance to the Big 12 title game. Nebraska played without star quarterback Taylor Martinez but their defense forced three turnovers and they had 262 yards on the ground to help them get the win. Colorado misses another bowl this year as they finish 5-7.

NBA

Howard had 23 points and 11 rebounds to help the Magic get past the Cavaliers 111-100. Jamar Nelson added 20 for the Magic while Antawn Jamison has 22 and Mo Williams had 20 for the Cavs.

Wade, Lebron, and Bosh help the Heat stop their three game skid as they beat the 76ers 99-90. Wade had 23, Lebron had 20, and Bosh had 18 for the Heat. Jodie Meeks led the 76ers with 21 and Andre Iguodala added 20.

Brandon Jennings' 25 points are not enough as the Pistons beat the Bucks 103-89. The Pistons had 7 players in double digits with Rodney Stuckey leading the way with 18. Erasan Ilyasova had a double double for the Bucks with 14 points and 11 boards.

Bobcats dominate the second half as they beat the Rockets 99-89. Wallace led the Bobcats with 21 points and 14 rebounds and Boris Diaw added 20 and 10 rebounds. Chase Budinger had a team high 19 for the Rockets.

The Celtics get past the Raptors 110-101. The Celtics had five players in double figures and Garnett led them with 26 and 11 boards. Linas Kleiza led the Raptors with 18.

Dirk and the Mavs stop the Spurs winning streak at 11 as they win 103-94. Dirk led the Mavs with 26 and Tyson Chandler added 18. Manu Ginobili had a game high 31 for the Spurs and George Hill added 21 more.

Russell Westbrook dropped 43 as he leads the Thunder past the Pacers 110-106 in overtime. Kevin Durant added 25 and Jeff Green had 15 and 14 boards for the Thunder. Danny Granger had a team high 30 for the Pacers and Roy Hibbert had 19 and grabbed 10 boards.

Utah Jazz trailed by 16 after the first quarter but continued to come back as they beat the Lakers 102-96. Deron Williams had 29 points and 12 assists and Al Jefferson had 20 more for the Jazz. Kobe led the Lakers with 31; Pau Gasol added 21 and 11 rebounds and Lamar Odom had 16 and 10.

The Sun’s end the Clippers two game winning streak with a 116-108 win. Jason Richardson had 29, Hakim Warrick added 25, and Steven Nash added 16 and 10 dimes for the Suns. Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin both had big games again for the Clippers: Gordon had 32 points and Griffin added 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Carmelo Anthony hit a game winning  buzzer beater as the Nuggets beat the Bulls 98-97. Melo had 22 points and Nene had 18 for the Nuggets. Derrick Rose’s replacement C.J. Watson had 33 points, Luol Deng had 24 and Jaokim Noah added 17 points and 16 rebounds.

Rudy Gay leads Memphis with 25 as they beat the Warriors 116-111. O.J. Mayo added 23 for the Grizzlies in the win. Andris Biedris had 28 points and 21 rebounds, Stephen Curry added 26 and Monta Ellis had 23 more.

Hornets dominate the Trailblazers 97-78. Willie Green led the Hornets with 19 and Chris Paul had 16 points and 13 assists. Brandon Roy had a team high 27 for the Trailblazers. 

College Basketball

David Lighty’s 21 points helped #3 Ohio St get past Miami (OH) 66-45. Freshmen Deshaun Thomas added 15 for the Buckeyes while Orlando Williams led the Redhawks with 13 points.

#4 Kansas St bounces back from their loss to Duke to beat Texas Southern 84-60. Jacob Pullen led the Wildcats with 16 and Curtis Kelly added 13 more while Kevin Galloway had a double double with 15 points and 10 assists for Texas Southern.

#6 Kansas blew out Ohio 98-41. Marcus Morris had a game high 26 points for the Jayhawks while D.J. Cooper had a team high 16 for Ohio.
E’Twaun Moore had a game high 31 points to help #8 Purdue run past Southern Illinois 79-60. JaJaun Johnson added 18 more for Purdue and Justin Bocot led Southern Illinois with 18.  

#24 Tennessee upset #7 Villanova 78-68 to win the NIT Tip-Off Title. Scotty Hopson led the Vols again with 18 points while Sophomore Mouphtaou Yarou led the Wildcats with 15.

#10 Syracuse holds on to get past Michigan 53-50. Kris Joseph had a big game for the Orange as he had a game high 22 and Rick Jackson had 10 points and 10 boards. Jordan Morgan led Michigan with 11.

#20 Temple got past Georgia 65-58. Temple was led by Forward Scootie Randall who had 18 and Gerald Robinson led the Bulldogs with 16.

#22 San Diego St tops San Diego Christian 88-69. The Aztecs were led by Chase Tapley and Kawhi Leonard who each had 14 a piece. Tyler Mutton had 19 for Christian. 

NHL

Ward has 37 saves and shuts out the Bruins to help the Hurricanes win 3-0. 

Islanders end their 14 game skid as they beat the Devils 2-0. 

Kiprusoff has 34 saves as the Flames beat the Flyers 3-2 in a shootout.

Fleury stops 43 shots for the Penguins as they knock off the Senators 2-1. 
Martin Havlet nets two goals as the Wild beat the Predators 5-2. 

Patrick Shark had his 14th goal on the season as the Blackhawks pass the Ducks 4-1.

Capitals shutout the high scoring Lightning 6-0. Alexander Semin netted a hat trick in the win. 

Redwings stop the Blue Jackets 5 game win streak with a 2-1 victory. 

Miller has 25 saves to help the Sabers beat the Maple Leafs 3-1. 

Henrik Lundqvist has 40 saves and helps the Rangers shutout the Panthers 3-0. 

Thashers shutout the Canadiens 3-0 despite Alex Auld's 44 saves. Rich Peverley had two goals for the Thrashers. 

Stars had two goals in the 3rd period to get past the Blues 3-2.

Mikael Samuelssonn had two goals for the Canucks as they kill the Sharks 6-1.
