Daily Sports Recap

NBA

The Heat continued their miserable start as they lose to Orlando 104-95. Dwight Howard had 24 points and 18 boards, J.J Reddick also had a big game as he added 20 and Jamar Nelson got ejected but still had 17 points and 14 dimes for the Magic. Lebron had 25, Bosh had 21, and Wade had 18 for the Heat.

Mo Williams hit a game winning two point jumper over Brandon Jennings as the Cav’s beat the Bucks 83-81. Williams had 25 points on the night and the Cavs defense held Brandon Jennings to only 3 points.

Andrea Bargnini had another big game for the Raptors as they beat the 76ers 106-90. Bargnini had 24 and Reggie Evans had 22 rebounds and 12 points for the Raptors while Andre Iguodala led the 76ers with 17.

Knicks won their 5th straight and got to .500 on the season as they beat the Bobcats 99-95. Raymond Felton had 23 points and 13 assists against his former team and Amare Stoudemire added 20 for the Knicks. Tyrus Thomas led the Bobcats with 26 points and 11 boards.

Dirk scoreed 34 as he led his Mavs past Durant’s Thunder 111-103. Tyson Chandler had 17 points and 18 rebounds for the Mavs. Durant led the Thunder with 32 and 11 rebounds; Westbrook added 13 and 10 assists.
Shaq had 25 points and 11 rebounds to help lead the Celtics beat the Nets 89-83. Devin Harris led the Nets with 20. Celtics move to 11-4 on the season.

Grizzlies used big second half to get past the Pistons 105-84. Zach Randolph had a game high 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Grizzlies. Pistons were led by Rodney Stuckey who had 17 points.

Spurs cameback in the fourth to sent it into overtime and then pulled away from the Timberwolves 113-109 in overtime. Manu Ginobili led the Spurs with 26 points and Tony Parker added 17 in the win. Kevin Love had another huge game with 32 points and 22 rebounds. Darko Milicic added 22 in the loss.

The Rockets get past the Warriors 111-101. Kevin Martin led the Rockets with 25 points and Luis Scola had 24 and 12 rebounds. Dorell Wright led the Warriors with 24 and Stephen Curry added 21.

Hornets lose their second straight, this time to the Jazz 105-87. Deron Williams led the Jazz with 26 points and 11 dimes and Al Jefferson added 23. Chris Paul had a team high 17 for the Hornets.

Bulls top the Suns 123-115 in double overtime. The Bulls had 29 to the Suns 17 in the 4th quarter to come back and send it to OT. Derrick Rose had 35 and 12 rebounds, Luol Deng had 26 and 10 rebounds, Kyle Korver had 24 and Joakim Noah had 17 points and 15 boards. Grant Hill had a team high 27 for the Suns, Hakim Warrick added 23, and Steve Nash had 14 points and 16 assists.

NCAA Basketball

Kalin Lucas had 29 as #2 Michigan St bounced back to beat #11 Washington 76-71 in Maui. Matthew Bryan-Amaning had 15 to lead the Huskies.

Corey Fisher had 26 points for Villanova as they beat UCLA 82-70. Mouphtaou Yarou had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Wildcats. Malcom Lee had a team high 13 for UCLA and Reeves Nelson added 10 points and 14 rebounds.

UConn upset #9 Kentucky to win the Maui invitational Championship 84-67.  Kemba Walker led the Huskies with another huge game, he had 29 points and Alex Oriakhi added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Freshmen Terrence Jones led the Wildcats again with 24 points.

#12 Missouri got past La Salle 83-71. Missouri was led by guard Marcus Denmon who had 21 and Ricardo Ratliffe had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ruben Guillandeaux led La Salle with 13 points.

#17 Minnesota moved to 6-0 on the season as they beat North Dakota St 84-65. Blake Hoffarber led the Gophers again with 24 points. Michael Tveidt led the Bison with 14 points.

#24 Tennessee held Virginia Commonwealth to only 30% from the field as they win 77-72. Scotty Hopson led the Vols with 18 points and 11 boards. VCU was led by Guard Brian Rozzell who had 23 points.

NHL

Marc-Andre Fleury had 30 saves and Pascal Dupuis had the only goal as the Penguins beat the Sabers 1-0.

Ovechkin has three assists, two to Nicklas Backstrom, as the Capitals beat the Hurricanes 3-2.

Jakub Voracrek’s overtime goal helped the Blue Jackets beat the pathetic Islanders 4-3.

Thrashers thrash the Redwings 5-1. Atlanta had 5 different scorers and Ondrej Pavelec had 32 saves.

Canadiens beat the Kings 4-1. The Kings have lost 5 out of 6 and the Kings fell to 13-6-1 on the season.

Kovalchuk’s Shootout goal helps left the Devils past the Flames 2-1.

Stars get past the slumping Senators 2-1 thanks to goals from Daley and Morrow.

Steven Stamkos had another goal for the Lightning as they beat the Rangers 5-3. Ryan Malone also added two goals for the Lightning.

Mark Recchi had two goals as the Bruins beat the Panthers 3-1. Mark Recchi got his 1,500 career point during the game.

The Blues went from winning seven to losing five and now they’ve won three in a row as they beat the Panthers 2-1 in a shootout.

Six different Flyers score as they beat the Wild 6-1. Carter and Briere both had their 11th goals on the season for the Flyers.

Daniel Sudin nets his 13th on the season as the Canucks beat the Avalanche 4-2.

Patrick Marleau has two goals as the Sharks beat the Blackhawks 5-2. 

Soccer

Pedro scored twice and Lionel Messi scored once as Barcelona beat Panathinikos 3-0.

Wayne Rooney scored a penalty for Manchester United as they beat Rangers 1-0.

Tottenham dominated Werder Bremen 3-0.
